Let’s talk about the magic of Turkey Smash Burgers. I am a huge fan of burgers, and often I cook them at home. My burgers were tasty, but they looked criminally bad. I never could make a nice-looking patty. It always looked strange, not even. This resulted in one part of the patty being overbaked and dry, while the other was just right.

All of this changed when I saw a video of smash burger on my Instagram. It amazed me how they got this good-looking patty in the blink of an eye. The next day I was making smash burgers, and they were completely a game-changer for me. My burgers started looking amazingly, and the taste of the patty was ambrosian. It was evenly baked, good-looking, and full of flavors. Smashing a ball of meat elevated my burgers to a new dimension, and ever since that day, I’ve only been making smash burgers.

Ingredients that you need for no onion no garlic Turkey Smash Burger recipe

  • Ground turkey
You can use ground turkey, chicken, beef, or pork. Options are endless, but for this recipe, I choose ground turkey, and it tastes divine.
  • Burger buns
You can choose any buns, from white, brioche, or sesame seeds. It is all up to your preference. This smash burger recipe works well with all of them.
  • Red cheddar cheese
I love cheddar cheese on my burger, and I like how it gives a nice color to the burger and makes it more cheerful.
  • Lettuce
Topping to the burger, but you can swap it for your favorite topping.
  • Tomato
Topping to the burger, but you can swap it for your favorite topping. I love adding tomatoes to my burgers because it gives a bit of juiciness.
  • Allium-free mayo
Condiment to the burger, but you can skip it or choose some other. When using mayo, take care to use the one without alliums.
  • Butter
It will provide juiciness to the bun, and help with toasting it.
  • Salt – for enriching the taste.
  • Freshly cracked pepper – for giving spiciness to the meal (if you don’t like spicy, or you can’t eat pepper you can omit it – it will not affect the meal).

Equipment

  • Griddle
  • Skillet
  • Pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Bowl
  • Knife
  • Scissors
  • Meat thermometer
  • Spatula

How to make a Turkey Smash Burger without onion without garlic?

1.

Season ground meat with salt and pepper, mix it with the hand to combine it well and then shape them into equally big balls. You can shape them into 2 bigger balls if you want to have a thicker patty, or 4 smaller ones for a double patty.

2.

Cut the parchment paper with the scissors into a square a bit bigger than a burger bun. You will cover the ball of meat with it before smashing it. It will prevent sticking the patty to the pan.

3.

Heat a griddle until it’s very hot; place the balls of meat on the hot surface. Cover them with a piece of parchment paper, and smash it with a pan. During the cooking, flip the patty, and continue cooking on the other side. You can also make them into a skillet, just add a few drops of oil before you start heating up the pan on medium-high heat.

4.

When the patty is almost completely cooked, place a slice of cheese, and cover it with the lid to melt the cheese. When you cover it with the lid, you will trap the hot air inside, and it will perfectly melt the cheese.

5.

Spread butter on the burger bun, and toast the buns on the griddle or a pan until golden. Assemble the burgers. Smear the mayo on the buns, put burger patty, tomato, and lettuce. Instead of mayo, tomato, and lettuce, you can add your favorite burger toppings. This step is completely according to your taste. My mom has a lot of dietary restrictions, so I was scouring sites on the internet to find something to make for her for mother’s day.
Although I still had to modify this recipe due to her dietary restrictions (i.e. baking in an over vs cooking in a skillet and substituting the dairy components,) it came out great and we loved it!
Thank you so, so much for this wonderful recipe! I cannot cook very well so this recipe was a great guide for me.
