With Halloween knocking on our door, it’s the perfect time to share my delicious nut-free Halloween cookie recipe. These nut-free cookies are incredibly easy to make, with a divine texture and flavor. Since I’m a cat lover—and cats and Halloween go hand in hand—I cut out my nut-free cookie dough into cat shapes, and decorate them to look like cats ready for a Halloween party.

Once you make my nut-free cookie dough, it is time to be creative. Roll the nut-free cookie dough, choose the cookie cutters, and start making the cookies. You can use cookie cutters in the shape of cats, bats, pumpkins, or another Halloween-inspired shape for the best Halloween feeling. Once baked and cooled, wake up your inner artist and start decorating!

Another fun Halloween idea is to pre-bake a big batch of these nut-free cookies and host a Halloween-themed cookie decorating party. Play some spooky music while decorating. Witch’s Favorite nut-free Cookies

Ingredients
  

Cookie dough

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour + extra for dusting 300g
  • ½ cup powdered sugar 50g
  • 1 ¾ sticks unsalted butter 200g
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Glaze & Decoration

  • 1 ¾ cups powdered sugar 210g
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • liquid food coloring
  • rainbow sprinkles

Instructions
 

Cookies

  • Sift the flour and powdered sugar into a large bowl.
  • Add the butter and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  • Knead the mixture lightly until it forms a smooth dough.
  • Divide the dough into two equal portions. Add the cocoa powder to one portion and knead until fully incorporated.
  • Preheat the oven to 350℉ (180℃)
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • On a clean, lightly floured surface, use a floured rolling pin to roll out one portion of the dough to 1/4 inch (about 6mm) thickness.
  • Use cookie cutters to cut the dough into shapes.
  • Place the cookies on the prepared baking tray.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes or until the edges are firm.
  • Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool completely.

Decoration

  • Place the powdered sugar in a mixing bowl.
  • Add a few drops of food coloring and 2 tablespoons of water.
  • Mix with an electric mixer until the glaze is smooth.
  • Dip the cooled cookies into the glaze.
  • Immediately sprinkle rainbow sprinkles on top of the glazed cookies.
